Tuoi Ha, Crowned in the kitchen. Digital drawing. Florida International University, USA, 2026.
Project Statement

This poster is about the love that mothers put into their cooking. No matter
where you are from, a mother's food always feels like home. In Vietnamese
culture, cooking is one of the most important ways women show care for
their family. This idea is not only true in Vietnam. It is also true in many other cultures around the world. The poster shows a mother figure surrounded by ingredients and a child eating a warm bowl of noodles. The crown on her head represents how important she is. She is the heart of the home. The theme of this project is Ritual, Texture, and Memory. Cooking is a ritual that carries memory and love from one generation to the next.
Self Reflection

Working on this project was a good experience. Our group had members from different countries and backgrounds. Because of the time difference and distance, we did not get to interact as much as we hoped. Most of the work was done individually. However, thinking about how people from India, South Africa, and other places also have their own food traditions helped me understand the project better. It made me realize that even though we are all different, food and family are things we all share. This project pushed me to think beyond my own culture and create something that more people can connect with. I learned that art can be a way to share stories without words.
